The Waistcoat Question

Every Gentleman whilst in store asks why we advise that the bottom button of the waistcoat is to be left unfastened. Well, this is how the story goes...

It is said to have started by King Edward VII, 'Bertie' then the Prince of Wales. He is said to have been quite 'Heavy' and thus could not fasten the bottom button of his waistcoat. His subjects taking this as a fashion statement followed his lead and therefore no Gentleman's suit or waistcoat is designed to have it's bottom button fastened.
